NEXUS AI
A self-hosted personal AI assistant — my long-term attempt to build the AI companion I've imagined since childhood.

private by design
The origin
I grew up obsessed with JARVIS and Tony Stark. I wanted a personal AI companion of my own — and I remember trying to find or download something like it. Nothing quite worked.
Later I fell for modern AI systems. But the advanced ones usually need money and resources, and that's where I had to make a decision: buy in, or build my own. I chose to build.
What NEXUS is today
NEXUS is a self-hosted personal AI assistant — a persistent, private intelligence layer that learns alongside me. It's an integration layer between LLMs, memory, and automation tools, with voice, vision, memory, reasoning, and autonomy modules.
It's real, it's versioned, and it's in development — the Dev Log tracks exactly what has shipped so far.
What building it taught me
- Programming and architecture
- Debugging and patience
- UI/UX design
- Project management
- Working with models
- Consistency — ship one version at a time
Current limitations
- Text-to-speech quality
- Search
- The UI still feeling modern rather than truly futuristic
Where it's going
Autonomy, and eventually a public release. These are planned phases, clearly separated from what exists today.
Architecture
diagramIntegration layer between LLMs, memory, and automation tools. A proper diagram is on the way — the modules below tell the real story for now.
System Modules
Voice
Speech recognition and synthesis
Vision
Image understanding and context
Memory
Persistent vector-store recall
Reasoning
Multi-step tool orchestration
Autonomy
Task execution and automation
Persistent Memory
Remembers context across sessions so conversations never start from zero.
Tool Use
Calls external tools and APIs to take real action, not just reply.
Automation
Runs scheduled and event-driven workflows on your behalf.
Private by Design
Self-hosted — data stays on your own hardware.
